Re: Vigil at Nativity BVM Church, 69th and Washtenaw,
Saturday March 10, 2007,3PM
that Lithuanian Heritage be preserved and ethnic
Lithuanian churches be protected.


The Lithuanian American Organizations of Chicago and
Friends met on February 28, 2007, to discuss the
closings/proposed closings of Lithuanian Parishes in
the US. A vigil will take place at Nativity BVM
Church in Marquette Park, 69th and Washtenaw,
Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 3PM to pray that ethnic
Lithuanian churches will be preserved to serve the
spiritual, cultural, and community needs of
Lithuanians. At present, 3 churches are at risk - Our
Lady of Vilnius, Manhattan, NY; St. George,
Shenandoah, Pennsylvania; and St. George, Niagara
Falls
, NY
. Prayer and hymns will be offered for the
welfare of open Lithuanian parishes as well as the
endangered.

There will be a Mass at 4PM, following the vigil.
